I just built a system using a Gigabyte PDS4. Well, I finally built my system: Hot plug is supported by hardware. It is not a data table containing some form of initial register values. Wonder if JMicron has updated drivers for the chip, or if I should stick with what Gigabyte has on their website. However to my disappointment I couldn’t get the Intel controllers to work no matter what I did.

Here is a Registry file that should work for X and P based boards: When you say “hot plug” do you mean having the option to safely unmount the drive? Most of us either stumbled blindly into the scratch installation of a Windows XP operating system for our new motherboards with the ICH9R on it or, as in my case, tried to migrate my installed hard disk configured for an older chipset which only offered IDE emulation on the SATA ports.

Anyway, you can erase the flash chip, so that no option ROM is executed and the card is rendered non-bootable anymore. Feature will never be implemented.
I’m seriously considering returning the board which is a shame coz apart from the hot-plug issues it’s a fantastic piece of gear. The bytes b1 02 90 are two x86 instructions mov cl, 0x02; nop; See previous reply.

jmicrno Or just use JMicron controller for sata stuff. This is now not enabled by default due to some reported issues, such as with hotplug and with command timeouts on some systems. Posted June 24, edited.

Those three bytes used to be a function call to a function that would read a byte from the PCI configuration space register diand return the result in cl.
Run the installer with the -a switch to extract the files. I tried modifying the option ROM to also configure register 0x to this value, but had many problems booting. So I ask you: These configuration registers seem to control the hardware directly. Option ROM sets this to either 0xf1 or 0x Option ROM not enabled by setting df, so the disks are not bootable.
